Full-Day Birding Tour – East Slope of the Andes

Join us for an unforgettable full-day birding adventure on the eastern slope of the Andes, one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. This tour is perfect for birdwatchers and nature lovers of all levels, from beginners to experienced birders.

We will explore a variety of habitats, including Andean highlands, cloud forest, and upper tropical rainforest, where you can observe an incredible diversity of bird species in their natural environment.

    Depending on weather and conditions, we may observe species such as:

    • Torrent Duck (along rivers)

    Detailed Itinerary

    Early Morning Departure
    We depart early from Quito and head toward Papallacta Pass. Along the way, we will stop at key birding locations to observe high-Andean species.

    Morning Birding Session
    At higher elevations, we will search for species such as:
    Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe, Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle, Rainbow-bearded Thornbill, Viridian Metaltail, and many others.

    Papallacta birding

    Midday
    We continue birding around lakes and páramo habitats, where aquatic and high-altitude species can be observed.

    Afternoon Session
    We descend toward the cloud forest and upper Amazon slope, where we will encounter a completely different set of species, including tanagers, flycatchers.

    Return to Quito
    In the late afternoon, we return to Quito after a full day of birding.
